You must have a qualification equal to an AQF Bachelor Degree or higher with an ICT Major.

If having done a course with an ICT Major closely relevant to the occupation, meet the following requirements:

Related work experience of two years you earned within the last 10-year period, or

4-year related work experience that you earned anytime in your previous work history

If done a course with an ICT Major not closely relevant to the occupation, meet the requirements:

4 years of related work experience you attained anytime in your previous work history

Having a qualification equivalent to an AQF bachelor’s degree or higher with an ICT Minor

If done a course with an ICT Minor closely related to the occupation of ICT security 262112, satisfy the requirements:

Related work experience of five years you earned in the past 10 years, or

6-year related work experience that you attained at any time in your previous work history

If done a course with an ICT Minor not closely relevant to the occupation, meet the requirements:

Related work experience of 6 years you earned anytime in your previous work history

A qualification equivalent in value to an AQF Diploma or Vendor Certification

If completed a course with an ICT Major or Vendor Certification, the requirements are below:

5 years of related work experience you earned within the past 10 years, or

Related work experience of 6 years you earned anytime in your previous work history

If you did a course with an ICT Major not closely related to the occupation, meet the requirements:

6 years of relevant work experience you completed anytime in your previous work history.

ACS also accepts prior learning (RPL).

If having a non-ICT qualification equal to an AQF Diploma or higher, the requirements are below:

Six years of related work experience you earned anytime in your previous work history, and

Recognition of Prior Learning application.

If without any tertiary qualification but with work experience only, meet the requirements:

8 years of related work experience, and

Recognition of Prior Learning Application

Remember: A prior learning application requires you to show the way you earned your IT knowledge. To do this, submit 2 Project Reports with an RPL application for an Australian computer society skills assessment.

The below-given Vendor Certifications are acceptable, as ACS finds them equal to an AQF Diploma level qualification:

Cisco Certifications

Australian qualifications having recognition from ACS have a high chance of satisfying the ICT Major criteria. However, the authority may not necessarily evaluate it as being closely related to the chosen occupation. So, it’s wise for you to make sure that you choose the correct occupation.

The authority will count employment completed after that date you have met the ACS Suitability Criteria as Skilled Employment. It clearly means that ACS will not consider pre-qualification employment experience.

English language criteria:

The English language criteria for the ICT Security 262112 occupation are below:

  1. Get an IELTS result with a minimum score of 6 (R, W, L) in speaking and 7 overall.
  2. TOEFL iBT with at least a score of (L: 12, R: 13, W: 21, and S: 23 overall L93).
