Introduction

Another gem of the Himalayas that hikers from all over the world have yet to discover is the Brahmatal trek, which is dedicated to Lord Brahma.

From the route, one can see the ancient oak and rhododendron woodland. By strolling across the meadows next to Brahamatal Ridge, you can see many Roopkund Trek locations. The distant Garhwal Mountains will completely melt your heart on a clear day.

Beautiful scenery surrounds the area. A shrine is next to the lake, which is in a crater, and a lone tree can be seen on the opposing bank. Dewal is the last ATM before the trek begins. It’s best to withdraw money from Kathgodam itself.

Both the beginning and the end are in Kathgodam.

Getting to Kathmandu –

By Train

Kathgodam station, which dates back to ancient times, is one of the area’s main stations. There are many places it has easy access to, including Lucknow, Delhi, and Howrah.

Take the Ranikhet Express (5104), which leaves Delhi at 10:40 p.m. and gets to Kathgodam at 5:30 a.m. (overnight trip); or the Uttar Sampark Kranti (5035), which leaves Delhi at 4:00 p.m. and gets to Kathgodam at 10:40 p.m. You can take the 10:30 p.m. Doon Express (4120) from Dehardun.

By Air: 

The closest airport to the city is Pantnagar Airport, located 32 kilometres from Kathgodam. The airport is connected to Delhi by four weekly roundtrip flights. Taxis are reasonably easy to find from the airport to Kathgodam.

By Bus: Regular buses run from ISBT Delhi’s Anand Vihar station to Kathgodam. Haldwani, the bus station for Nainital and a twin town of Kathgodham The Haldwani bus station is where buses typically discharge their passengers. The 4 km to Kathgodham Railway Station must be travelled from there.  At ISBT Anand Vihar, we suggest that you only board authorised buses.

What You Should Know Before a Brahmatal Trek

Because the climate in high altitudes is different from that in the plains, allow yourself the necessary time to adjust.

Pay attention to the instructors or trek leaders to have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Keep a first aid kit and some generic prescriptions on you while you’re on the tour.

As the journey passes through an eco-friendly area, do not encourage littering at nearby campsites or tents.

Without harming or interfering with them, respect the indigenous customs and religious practices.

Although there are medical facilities at every campground, it is advised that participants bring their own medication.

You have to follow the rules set forth by the state government.

The Brahmatal Trek itinerary includes:

Kathgodam to Lohajung on Day 1

It will take you 9 hours to drive from Kathgodam to Lohajung, which is located 225 kilometres away.

You will arrive in Lohajung in the late afternoon and spend the night in a guest house there.

Day 2: Lohajung to Bekaltal-

The today’s walk will start after breakfast. Set out on your journey to Bekaltal.

Enjoy some breath-taking views of Nandaghunti Peak with your eyes.

Wander through fir and oak woodlands. You should complete the 4-5 hour hike by the time you reach Bekaltal. A total of 8 KM would be covered by your journey.
