The story about Lubdhaka

Lubdhaka was a tribal man and a dedicated worshiper of Lord Shiva was in the deep forest to gather firewood. He was lost and decided to stay all night in the wilderness on top of the bilva tree. To keep his eyes open he snatched the leaves of the bilva and continued dropping them onto the ground while praying to Shiva’s name. When the sun rose, he saw that he’d dropped thousands of leaflets on the Shiva Lingam in the vicinity of the tree. had not been noticed by the time of night. Lord Shiva was delighted by his dedication and granted him a blessing. This is also the reason for the tradition of offering the bilva leaf to Shiva.

Andhra Pradesh

Mauritius

The festival lasts for three days. celebrated where devotees make a journey to the sacred volcanic lake, Grand Bassin to pray and ask for the blessings for Lord Shiva.

Nepal

  • Without food and water (Nirjala)

Consume at least 8-10 glasses of fluids to remain well-hydrated. If you suffer from an elevated pitta (acidity concentration) in your body, you should refrain from drinking only water.

  • Tapota/sabudana khichdi
