TEC Certification Coverage
There are some telecommunication products that might not be covered under the TEC certification. There are obvious reasons for it. We have submitted some of these telecom equipment for your reference.
Data Centre (DC) switches under MTCTE
Data Centre (DC) Switches are not covered for TEC certification under the variants mentioned in the LAN Switch ER as per the latest notifications.
Consumer Products certification under MTCTE
Any consumer product such as TV, Refrigerator, etc., whose primary function is not telecom. But such products have telecom interfaces such as Bluetooth, WiFi, etc. Therefore, these products are not covered under MTCTE for TEC certification.
Whole Unit Replacement under AMC
If the OEM, i.e., Original Equipment Manufacturer, has no fresh model sale, then the MTCTE division can consider it a case for exemption from TEC certification. This exemption is for the yearly requirement of the model quantity based on the commitment for no new sale. The commitment is led down through an undertaking and establishing the requirement of quantity based on documentary proof by OEM.
Patch Cords: under Optical Fiber Cable ER
An Optical Fiber Cable ER is not applicable on connectorized cables (or patch cords) for TEC certification.

Company Nomenclature for TEC Certification
Applicant’s Name
The executive’s name whom the Company authorizes must be entered against the applicant’s Name field on the Edit profile page of the MTCTE portal. In addition, the applicant must mention their designation in the Company in the Designation field.
Blank Company Name
The name of the applicant company will be blank when creating a fresh application. It will happen if the MTCTE admin validator does not approve the profile that the AIR/OEM has updated. Then, the applicant must wait for the approval. The TEC suggests the AIRs wait for approval after the AIR self-company details submission. Only then can they submit the foreign OEM details.
Any applicant company that wants to procure a TEC certification for its telecom product, must observe the guidelines issued by the MTCTE.
